Starting in May of 2018, the Freedom of the Seas will begin sailing from San Juan, Puerto Rico on Southern Caribbean itineraries. The ship will have two different itineraries, both of which are excellent. There is one in particular that caught my attention as being attractive to the geocaching community. This deep southern itinerary features five different ports of call. When you add in Puerto Rico, that's six different countries to add to your geocaching achievements! Six countries in seven days is a pretty big accomplishment!
Let's look at the itinerary and these islands through the eyes of the Geocaching map (snapshot as of 5/30/17). Just look at all the potential smilies! And, as always if you book with us, AMS Travel Sales will include a .GPX file for each destination! You see there are geocaches within reach of any of the ports in each island.
Your cruise is scheduled* to visit:
San Juan:
St. Maarten:
Antigua:
St. Lucia:
and finally Barbados:
Now that's all well and good, but a lot of the fun in a cruise is the ship. How is Freedom of the Seas? I can tell you from personal experience that it is AWESOME! I have sailed on this ship and have put literally hundreds of clients on the Freedom. Up until only a few years ago, this is the ship that was the most popular of all our clients sailing from Florida. All come back raving about the experience. Many consider it a perfect size for cruising- not too big, not too small. It has many of the exciting features found on the most gigantic Royal Caribbean Ships. It has a Flowrider surf simulator, an ice skating rink, rock climbing wall, several restaurants and entertainment venues. It has an expansive kids area with excellent children's programming throughout the cruise. If your children are a fan of Dreamworks characters from movies such as Madagascar, Shrek and Penguins- they'll love the character experiences.
